My Sisters Favourite Colour is Pink and Purple

Yesterday Boo had a friend round and after we had spent the day at the farm we came home and they played and we did some art together.

I got out the hama beads, that we haven’t had out for ages and ages to be honest.

Mainly because I end up making more things than them, there’s a post coming about that!

But also because they have just been hidden away, it’s on my list to sort out the art trunk hopefully that will be done in the next week or so!

But we got them out for the first time in forever and straight away Boo declared he was making Rhianna a star.

Because she is a star.

And that he was going to put a lot of pink and purple in it because they are her favourite colours.

And that is exactly what he did.

And I love it.

And I love that he thinks like that.

And that he knows she would have a favourite colour and he has decided on it.

And just everything about this I love.

We never push Rhianna on them, but they also know they are free to talk about her as and when they like and they do.

She may have died.

She may be a baby loss statistic.

But she is no taboo in her brothers world.

They are breaking those taboos as they grow up.

All their friends know their sister died.

All their friends know she was stillborn.

All their friends know she died before Boo was born.

All of their friends know where she is buried.

If they are hurting or upset about Rhianna they talk about her.

And their friends listen.

They talk about her too.

They chat with them about her.

Yesterday Boo said her favourite colours were pink and purple and his best mate agreed, telling him that they were definitely her favourite colours.

There is no issue with talking about Rhianna, there’s no looking away, hoping the words disappear. There is no trying to change the subject.

Their sister died and their friends listen and talk to them about it.

It happened “its so very sad” (a statement from a friend years ago) but it happened. And she is as much a part of their lives as any of us.

And they just accept it.

They kind of give me a little hope, that one day the taboo that is babyloss will one day disappear.

But for now I am so proud that our boys, Rhiannas brothers are going through life and naturally crushing the walls that are around babyloss and discussing their sister as and when they want to, and need to regardless of what others think around them.

We really couldn’t be prouder of them!
