We Are A Dog Walking Family

So I have been going on and on about walking the dog and getting fit that I thought I could not keep talking about it without actually doing something about it. So today, we as a family started on the dog walking regime.

I do need to find some serious dog walking places, but at the moment we are still building up Tito and my fitness and Baba is developing his walking. As in how far he can walk before getting too tired and needed a pushchair. To be honest it is all trial and error at the moment, and I am thinking that I may need to invest in one of those portable hip carrier sling, that I can just carry around until he gets too tired as he is so heavy to carry otherwise that it really shortens the walk and quickly.

So while we are still in the early stages I thought that we would go to the places that I know that are around here, to help us all build ourselves up. So off we went to the heath today for a walk.

As soon as we got there it started to rain, but I was determined not to let that stop us. In the past I would have said lets go, but Baba had his waterproofs on and wellies I had decent clothes and Tito really needs to get over his rain issue. Although I do think I need some wellies as well.

Although the rain always means the ducks are out which kept Baba happy as he loves ducks, and they kept coming up to the edge to see us.

We must have been a disappointment to them though as we had no food for them at all. Even though Baba kept telling me that we should have brought bread. My bad!

Doesn’t he look so happy? Baba really does love being outside, I feel a bit mean for always depriving him off it, as I don’t like the outdoors too much, but I am trying to make myself different and getting this reaction makes it all worthwhile!

As for Tito he doesn’t care where he is as long as he is walking, he is happy. Head down, sniffing along, what more can a dog want!

While we were out all Baba wanted to do was to hold Tito’s lead. So I let him for a while, when Tito was standing still. As soon as he moved, Baba feel over. Although he didn’t mind, I think we will leave that for a bit longer the whole lead holding!

However I did realise that I could get into walking, as long as I have my camera then I can see these wonderful things and get the pictures before I leave and then they are forever just a memory, but I can’t remember from where.

Just as we were leaving I saw this duck and had to get a picture, before it moved. Itwas perched on a branch in the lake just taking the day in, so relaxed. A brilliant thing to watch, Baba stood for ages in silence watching the duck fascinated that it wasn’t moving.

All in all it was a good first walk, we didn’t even get half the way round the heath so we can go back there a few times before it gets too boring. But this is something that we are going to continue, and the best bit is I get a nice relaxing time after as everyone else goes to sleep! Bonus!

  • It looks lovely round there – perfect for your first few weeks or so of walking!! I find that I miss my daily walks if I don’t get out. I often feel so tired etc and don’t want to go, but once I get out there I really feel much better! PS – The little white shape on Tito’s back is cute, it looks like a little man 🙂

    • It is a lovely place to walk around I have to say. I know what you mean about being tired not to go out, my thing is the weather but I am trying to get over it and just go for it. The white patch on Tito’s back actually looks like a cat when you see him in person! xxx

  • A lovely read and good on you for getting out and making the most of it. Children are so often at their happiest outdoors hey? We’re in Autumn here, but my little toddler doesn’t let the rain or wind stop her – she wants to be outside – and always, ‘Now!’ Though I sometimes just wish we could cuddle up indoors, when I do finally go out I always feel so much better for it – and seeing the joy on a child’s face at the simple things in life always makes me smile.

I love your beautiful photos 🙂

    • I am so with you on the staying in on certain days but I do feel much better when we get out. It is a great thing to be out doors all the time I do love it xx
