Walking, Pushchair, Walking

It didn’t seem long ago that where ever we went a pushchair had to be alongside us. Recently this want has subsided and I haven’t even really notice how much it actually has disappeared.

I think that is because if I am on my own I still take out the pushchair, I can not carry Baba for long, he is too heavy so I do rely on the pushchair I suppose. That is my bad, but it is nice not having to carry bags, OK I admit it. I do quite like it! I also have the fear that I will have the bag, shopping and Baba and he will get tired and we only be half way home so I then have to carry him the rest of the way.

After today I think that it maybe an irrational fear. We went shopping and yes we did take the pushchair but Baba walked everywhere. He went in the pushchair in one shop as he wanted some buttons, and by the sea as it was just too windy for him to actually walk. But other than that he walked a long long way and he did shock me how far he walked. He did have his reins on but I think that is a good thing, as it means that he feels that he has the freedom of walking without having to worry about holding our hands.

I feel bad, that maybe I am stopping him from developing how far he walks by only putting him in the pushchair. I think that I should bite the bullet so to speak and walk with him.

Last week a few times he asked to walk Tito and I think that this could be something that they both loved doing. So we need to do an experiment as a family, with all three of us. To see how far Baba can actually walk too without getting tired. If Mr L is with us he can carry Baba when he gets tired so I can work out where I can and can’t go with him and the dog.

I think also that the problem is I have always thought about going for walks straight out of our front door and into town etc. Now these are obviously good walks for the dog, but before we get anywhere exciting I think that Baba, even after today would still be tired, and then he would be upset as he would want to do the exciting stuff but would have to come home. So I am thinking that I need to chuck them both in the car get to the exciting place first, beach or forest or where ever we are walking and then walk from there. I think this would work better they would both have fun and be able to walk as long as possible.

So I need to do a bit of research and find some good places for walking dogs that are near me. I think if I do this we could have much longer walks in the week and all of us would be much more active. What do you think? Have any of you got over this, and what did you do?
