Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month

October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month with Babyloss Awareness Week also in the month from the 9th – 15th October finishing with the Wave of Light on the 15th.

It’s a busy month for babyloss.

It’s one that I always want to be involved in, it’s one I find really hard to be involved in.

This month isnt about mum’s, dad’s, brothers, sisters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins of babies that never made pregnancy or left us as an infant.

We live missing them every single day.

It is not a month to remind us that this happened.

We wish we could regularly wake up from the nightmare that has happened to us.

No this month is for awareness.

It’s for us to talk about this taboo subject, for all of us to talk about this harrow, life changing subject.

Its for our babies to be remembered.

It’s for us to be aware of the risks.

It’s for everyone to become educated.

It’s for us all to learn.

And it may be hard, so bloody hard to be involved in it when you are the face of it.

But it’s to let others know they aren’t alone.

It’s to make people think.

It’s to make people realise that this happens.

It’s so people have hope that you can smile again.

It’s so people can see you can survive this how ever bloody hard that can feel at times.

And it’s to make everyone understand just a little bit.

If just one of those happens, it helps with up to rawness of babyloss.

Well that’s how I feel anyway.

If one person gets a strange feeling in pregnancy checked.

If one person checks in on that friend who has had a loss.

If one person tells people about their loss.

If someone thinks I will mention their babies name.

If one person thinks I will remember their child with them then it is worthwhile.

I am the face of Stillbirth.

I am the face of Pregnancy Loss.

I have babies in heaven.

And as with their brothers I love them, I will always parent them, whether that is here with them daily or remembering them daily.

They are me.

They are us.

We are a family.

And together with thousands of others we stand in Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month and we will break the silence surrounding both!
