New Beginnings and Old Routines.

So last week I broke my charger for the laptop, well in actual fact it had been broken for a long time, but Mr L had managed to bodge it to make it last a little longer, and then it got slightly moved and that was the final nail in its coffin.

My laptop relies on the charger and suddenly I had no charger or laptop.

I ordered another one and was able to get online via my phone but that was it.

And to be honest, I didn’t really have the time.

It was the first full week at school, and the first week of Baba going to Beavers.

And it was full on.

Baba had gone back to school on the Friday before, and Boo had become instantly poorly, being violently sick in our local supermarket, with a raging temperature and generally unwell. Which meant Baba’s first day back and I had to get mum to pick him up as Boo was just too poorly to go out again.

We had a pretty quiet weekend because of Boo being poorly, and by the beginning of the week he came out in a massive cold and wasn’t that well for the rest of the week only really getting over it all now.

But this week was the week that we had to get back into routine.

And getting back into waking up at 7am was a shock to all of us, not just Baba, but Boo and I as well.

Baba is having his first year of school dinners, which is a whole new routine to get used to, and at first it constantly felt like I had forgotten something everyday after a year of school lunches. So far he seems to really like them. He wasn’t that fussed on the curry not so much the curry and rice but he didn’t like the chicken. However he has loved the fish and chips, the macaroni cheese, the pasta dish and the sausage and mash. All things that he does enjoy. But most importantly he has loved having his glass of milk every day with his lunch and it seems been eating quite a bit of fruit with his lunches. So I am pleased we let him try them as he really does seem to be liking them and that is the main thing.

It is a new year and one that he does have to do work in. He seems to be enjoying it at the moment and I hope that will continue throughout thee year. As these things can change, but currently once again he is desperate to learn and is loving everything that is being thrown at him.

Last year Baba didn’t do any extra curricular activities, he has never really shown an interest and is not a massive sporty child. So we didn’t push it.

Although we did put him down on the Beavers list as we knew that this would be something that he would enjoy.

Last weekend we got the call to say that this week he could try it for the first time.

So Thursday night Mr L came home in time to take him and we all went off to Beavers for the first time.

Within minutes you could tell that Baba was loving it.

He was going round shaking the other boys hands and introducing himself, and running more than he has ever run in his life.

He made lots of new friends, and found some that he already knew from his school. Mr L stayed for the whole session but he probably didn’t have to as Baba was having a fab time. He played the games, understood what each whistle meant and generally had a super time. The fact that they are learning about Space, and Future this term is right up his street, and he is super excited about the Christmas parties, and the sleepover they will be having this term.

He was literally buzzing when he came home and is so excited about going back this week.

But by Friday morning he was knackered.

He had to be woken up for school and hasn’t really caught up with his sleep since. We have had a very chilled day today letting him potter and not do anything to massive so he can just chill and relax and catch up on some well needed rest. I think it may be a thing that we have to do for the next few Sundays while we get back into our old school routine but also get into the new routine of Beavers as well!
