Lilies

Last year we brought lilies straight after you died,
We set a plan,
Lilies were the only flowers allowed at your funeral
And your tiny grave was filled with them
We were brought so many lilies that our kitchen table was filled to the edge with lilies
On your due date we were brought lilies
And we had a garden full.
They were beautiful
They were colourful
And they made us all happy
Then they died
And we were all a little bit sad
It was like you died all over again
I knew they couldn’t survive all year
I knew that you couldn’t survive
But I hoped they would
Like I hope you would
Lilies are so important to me
Lilies are you
You were never named after lilies as a plant
You were named Lily after your Great Nanny
But the plant lilies has become so important
We all look at them and smile
They are our symbol to you
I like to think you can see them growing from up in heaven
And see the colours they all are
I never thought your lilies would regrow this year
That was something that we wouldn’t be that lucky with
But we have been gardening and today we found a pot full of…
Lilies
It made me smile
Against all the wind, rain, frost and snow
And a lot of snow
These tiny lilies have regrown
And are in their pot, growing and getting ready for this year
It is something so simple
But means so much to us all
Your lilies are growing
I hope you can see them
I hope they are making you smile!
After all who wouldn’t smile seeing a lily.

Lovely Kerry
Thank you Carol xx
