Breaking The Taboo
Baby loss is a taboo
It is the unspoken about tragedy
It’s the club none of want to be in
No one envy’s you, everyone pity’s you
But no one knows what to say
To be honest I don’t often know what to say
Rhianna had been gone for 6 months before I even told people I didn’t know I had two children.
I couldn’t bring myself to say the words
To get the look
To make people uncomfortable
But even though I have found it difficult I have tried to make it the opposite for Baba
He has a brother and sister
End of
It’s not the ‘normal’ way but its his family
We have made sure we always talk about her
In our family she isn’t a taboo, she is our daughter and Baba and Boo’s sister
End off
And Baba talks about her
Yesterday he went to a friends from school, one he only knows from school and he was asked if he had older brothers and sisters
Straight away with no question Baba told them he had a sister
She was two and she lived in heaven
He didn’t care about the response
He didn’t care about the reaction
He has a sister
He loves his sister
He is proud of his sister
And if you ask him
He tells you
He has a sister
She just lives in heaven
A little six-year-old
Breaking the taboo
One person at a time
Making sure his sister lives on via him
Making us so proud every day
