Boo Turns One

Today marked a special occasion in our house.

This little dude turned one!

He came speeding into our world a year ago today, at just 38 weeks pregnant. He managed to wait until the exact day he was full term and he was born super fast first thing in the morning.

He didn’t heal us.

Nothing will heal us.

We will forever be a family of five, with one missing.

He was never going to change that.

But he made us smile.

He made a few broken hearts close a little.

He made Baba smile. A genuine smile that we hadn’t seen in such a long time.

He made him a big brother.

He was already a big brother but it was hard for him to be a big brother to someone he never sees Boo was here and Baba loved him from the minute he met him.

Boo was our rainbow after the storm.

In the last year he has changed so much, as all babies do.

He has become a cheeky chappy, who adores people (mainly Baba) he has a wicked humour that is beginning to shine through.

Baba and Boo are demons waiting to happen, you can see the trouble they will cause in future years and the knots they will tie people up in, (mainly me) and I love watching their relationship grow and develop as they both grow.

Boo is a determined soul, nothing is done unless he wants to do it, and he does it in his time only (just read the clapping post) but he is determined and he has a great skill at working out problems. A skill that seems highly developed to be honest.

He seems to have a love for sport, if he is upset put on football and everything becomes ok again. He loves rolling a ball around and throwing it about on the floor. His other great love is music, a musical toy or instrument is something that will always keep him happy and he loves to attempt to dance to any music that he hears.

Today has been a massive blur to Boo, he hasn’t really understood what has been going on, he hasn’t really got the coming and goings of people or the presents. In fact Boo and I spent most of the day doing what we did a year ago today. We ate, he had milk, he slept. But it was a lovely day anyway.

A lovely chilled day.

Made even more wonderful by Baba waking up so excited that his brother was one, and hiding his advent calendar for him, and because Mr L sent a picture of a rainbow over his work place this morning.

A rainbow means so much to us.

We always see it as a sign from Rhianna.

A kiss from the sky

Baba loves rainbows, I love rainbows, and Mr L loves rainbows.

When I took Boo to her grave for the first time, on a beautiful clear day a freak shower lead to us driving out of the graveyard into a rainbow.

A sign that Boo was accepted that it was all ok.

Today Mr L sent a picture of a rainbow, just as we were waking up.

A beautiful colourful kiss to her baby brother, from his big sister in the sky.

Not only was his brother so excited for his birthday, but it felt like his big sister was too.

A wonderful day made a little more beautiful.

Happy 1st Birthday Boo, we love you, love Mummy, Daddy, Baba and Rhianna Lily too! xx
