Beagles + Garden = Mayhem!

We have had Tito for six years now and to be fair he isn’t a usual beagle, he has calmed down a lot in the last couple of years, the chewing and digging has subsided and we were gradually getting on track with our garden, as he doesn’t go out there a lot in the winter. Literally a quick run for the toilet and then back in and in the summer all he wants to do is lay in the sun.

However we weren’t happy with having a contented, starting to chill dog, oh no we decided to get the absolute loon that is Buddy.

Who loves to dig, escape and have a go at eating absolutely everything that is in sight.

This past year he has done a good job at completely wrecking our garden. He has dug underneath the fences, dug out the vegetable patch and ripped out most of the plants from their pots.

He is the ultimate destruction and nothing makes him happier than being leg deep in mud with mud all over his face and throwing dirt around our back garden!

We need a plan and we need something that is easy to maintain and look after, something that will withstand two beagles running in and out, and will support them play fighting and will also be lovely for Baba, Mr L and myself!

We are not full on gardeners, we don’t want something that is high maintenance, that has to be cleaned regularly, stained, or looked after more than the animals. We want something that is easy to fit, that can cope with dog claws, wont get scratched, and wont make them fall over due to them slipping, and to be honest it looks like we may have found it with composite decking. It is everything that we want, we don’t have to stain it, and it is fade, stain, mould, rot and scratch resistant. Absolutely perfect for two dogs running in and out, and perfect for making our garden an easy garden to keep on top of.

Not only is it perfect for the dogs, it is means we can have a lovely area where we can have a table and chairs and finally for the first time ever actually manage to do a little bit of evening eating outside!
