Falling Out Of Love…
What do you do when you fall completely and utterly out of love…
With your house?
You sit and sulk about it apparently, well that is what I have been doing for the last few months.
It isn’t just me, Mr L feels the same and we are a bit stuck.
In theory or house should be perfect for us. We have a lovely three floor house, with four bedrooms and an equally sized lounge and kitchen downstairs with a huge space under the stairs. The rooms upstairs are two big double rooms, one single and a big bathroom, and the top room is a converted loft space so is a huge space.
So in theory we should have loads of space.
But we seem to be bursting at the seams.
The house looks dull, we have a mix match of furniture styles and be full of stuff, that we do need, but have no sort of clear space for everything. And to be honest it is getting us both down.
Neither is sure what to do for the best and with a new-born, 5-year-old, Mr L working every hour under the sun and trying to run my own business we never seem to have time to do anything.
We need to decide on some things. We need to decide on the decoration and go with it. Most of the house hasn’t been decorated for a while and to be honest I would like to do a mass decoration throughout the house but not sure we have the time or the money for that, or that we even know how we would want to decorate the place if we did have the time and the money.
We need to declutter, most of the stuff we have in the house we do use, but there are some things that really don’t get used and could be chucked away. This is something that really will take a lot of time, and needs to be done with a fine tooth comb. But it is something that needs to be done.
Another thing that we need to get on top off, is our storage situation. Until we decide on a style in the house, and declutter, storage solutions are a bit difficult as we don’t know what we need or what it has to match. Right now I just know it is something that we need.
So where do we go from here?
Do we score the internet, and magazines for ideas, and styles, so that we can decide on what to do with the house?
Or do we start the decluttering and try to get rid of the rubbish that we don’t want?
Or do we just go with it, and start moving stuff around and start painting and see what we come up with?
Or do we do what we have been doing for the past few months, sit down complain about how the house isn’t working for us, moan that we hate it and still do nothing!

I know exactly what you mean! I was seriously going mental with our house in December.
I started by decluttering and took it from there. it’s a slow process but it has started!
Don’t take on too much, but start with the declutter and see how you feel 🙂
I think the declutter is the thing that needs to start first get rid of the things that we really don’t need. How are you getting on? xx
Put everything in the loft. You will have more idea what you need to do decoration wise when it is all gone. You can choose to renovate, get rid of furniture etc without everything there. Then bring it back out it will be clear what you need and what you can get rid of. Sell as much as poss and put that money back into the house rather than savings other things xx
Great advice thanks Carol, I shall attempt to do that x
