Baba’s Love For Rhianna Lily

Baba has always been told the truth about Rhianna Lily, to the level that he understands.

He knows mummy had a baby in her tummy, that she was a little girl and she was called Rhianna Lily. He also knows that Rhianna got poorly and died and that she now lives in heaven up in the sky, with his great Nannies and JoJo the rabbit.

He knows that Rhianna has a special garden that we all have to look after as her mummy and daddy and her big brother. But as Baba says “sometimes he will be naughty and not look after her garden as big brothers are naughty sometimes.” He has taken it all in and he has accepted it. Life to Baba is black and white, he is still young enough that there are no grey areas and what is said to him is the truth and he accepts it totally.

He keeps us going with his simple understanding of grieve, in a way I completely envy him. Yes he gets sad and gets truly upset, but he also sees the good in things we as parents can’t even see.

Every time I go to Rhianna’s garden I get upset. I don’t cry everytime but I still get upset, it is a gut feeling and I just feel a weight of sadness. But Baba goes, gives her bunny a kiss, and says hello to Rhianna and may comment that the garden looks lovely or beautiful and then runs off as bright as he arrived.

Yesterday when we went, he turned around and told me that Rhianna needed a statue. He thought that she would like a statue on her garden and would think it was lovely. Over the day this developed, to Baba buying Rhianna a statue from our holiday as she then knows that we have been away and will have a bit of our holiday on her garden.

He was so pleased to think of this and everything that  he said was followed by

“that’s a good idea isn’t it Mummy?”

Yes Baba that is a fantastic idea!
