Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
So Tuesday Baba was quiet all day long, his temperature remained but other than that he seemed OK. He was eating and drinking and by the time Mr L came home you wouldn’t even think there was anything wrong with him. He was running around and screaming and shouting and back to his normal self.
We breathed a sigh of relief and he went up to bed with Mr L happy as Larry.
Until midnight….
By then his temperature was back up to 39 degrees and he was crying and did not look right. We gave him some nurofen and I settled myself in for the night. He had a rigor, which is an episode of extreme shivering, you can read about them here. After this he was awake until 2am and he looked ill, he had a greenish tinge about him and I was constantly looking at him thinking that he looked like he was going to have a fit.
So no sleep for me.
By 2am he finally succumbed to sleep and slept soundly until 8am. He woke up fine, no temperature but full of cold, and to be honest I was relived. I thought that that was it, and that he just had a hideous cold.
However the longer we were up the higher his temperature got, and he had another rigor about 8.45am. So I rang the doctor to be on the safe side. We got an appointment for 1.30pm, at 10am Baba was violently sick. However after that he seemed fine, not at all ill. Although he was no longer eating, and saying that he didn’t like anything.
We went to the doctors, and by this time he had a rash over his legs. The doctor was good, she gave him a full check and said that his rash was viral, so I was preparing myself for the dreaded virus word. She then looked at his throat and said that he had tonsillitis, his throat was full of it! So we were given some antibiotics. Oh joy!
Baba hates antibiotics with a passion, he is very good at making himself sick, refusing all medicine including calpol and nurofen all because of one antibiotic. So to say that I was dreading it was an understatement.
We came home and I tried to disguise it in a yoghurt and he instantly discovered that and told me it was yuck. So I didn’t bother we just left it until Mr L came home. Baba was quiet for the rest of the afternoon with his temp sitting between 38 and 39 degrees. He hadn’t eaten all day and suddenly asked for a McDonald’s, as it is on Mr L’s way home I asked him to get one, hoping that Baba may have a little. He didn’t eat anything really a couple of mouthfuls and a bit of his drink.
We had been keeping his nurofen and calpol going all day, so when we got him ready for bed we gave him his antibiotics. He took them well, although he cried after saying that he hated it. He had a drink and was still crying but was asking Mr L to take him to bed.
They got to the hallway…
And then Baba was violently sick over himself and Mr L three times. Bless him he did cry and was so upset. He was boiling and when we got to take his temperature after a good few minutes it was 39.7. I am not sure whether this is what is going to happen when his temperature gets to high from now on, but it does seem the last few times he has been sick once his temperature gets high he is sick! Not sure. All I know is that his temperature didn’t go down for a long time. It was still over 39 only by a little, but still over an hour later.
We were debating hospital but it started to gradually go down, and then remained this way for the rest of the night. By 10pm he had no temperature and was fast asleep.
He had a good night, he didn’t gain another temperature and woke up bright and breezy still with no temperature. He took his medicine wonderfully this morning, not complaining at all. He has eaten all day, and kept everything down, and has had a very slight temperature of 37.8 that is all. He has been playing today, laughing and giggling. He has left my side, I have been able to clean and get a little sorted. It has been a lovely day.

It’s so horrible when they are ill. So glad he’s so much better
