The End of The First Week
It’s the end of the first week, where we have had no school and aren’t allowed out freely all day every day and everything is all a bit strange.
It’s been a strange week.
A really strange one with Rhiannas birthday at the beginning of it, it has made it even stranger if I am honest.
I have been feeling out of sorts since then.
And to be honest by now we would be planning a walk along the beach and right now that just can’t happen.
So I am trying to find the other positives that have happened this week.
We aren’t having to run around like we usually do.
For us this is huge.
We usually have a club for one of the boys every night of the week except a Tuesday.
At the moment we don’t.
There are no time scales at the moment and actually it is really lovely.
The boys are finally catching up on some sleep.
I think we have all been running on empty for a long time and this extra sleep is really needed. They are waking up naturally and not being woken and I think that is great for them both.
We are having time with them both individually, yesterday BB and I watched a movie together.
Something we never really do.
Something that in ordinary circumstances would not happen.
He is going to be 12 in 6 months time, and he is growing older and becoming more and more independent these moments now would not ordinarily be happening and I am so grateful we are getting this extra time with him.
Having no time scales.
This is huge for us. The boys are being fab at doing their school work, but the best part is that we can do it when they wake up at 9am or we can do after tea at 6pm. There are no rules when it comes to when we sit down and do some work.
Also one of the biggest things for us, is that the boys can choose what they want to learn.
This week BB has done his first marine Biologist lesson, after wanting to be one for the last 6 years. He finally got to get a bit of education and a little closer to his dream.
And both of them have asked to learn sign language and none of this would be possible if we were still in school time.
And doing other educational things. We are learning about gardening and vegetables and growing our own.
Sustainability at its best.
But again something we wouldn’t be doing if life was the norm.
So yes life is different and there are many things that we are missing, and many things that we are finding hard.
But there are so many things that are happening that wouldn’t be happening if we weren’t in this situation and some of these are just magical!
And we should be so grateful for them.
