Home Learning
In the last couple of weeks, lets be honest all our lives have changed and we are all suddenly trying to teach our kids at school, and trying to all get into some sort of new routine within our families, that we never expected to be doing a couple of weeks back.
I am no teacher, but I have to admit we have thought about home schooling a few times in the boys life, and I am not really minding having them at home and learning around us.
But we are not following a strict routine, we are having busy days and quieter days, and some things are successful and some things really are not successful.
But I thought I would use the blog to record the more successful things if they happen, as they may help someone else in the future.
So last week we decided to do a little science with the boys about their bodies.
Not often do we do activities for both of them at the same time, as at 6 and 11 they really are learning different things to each other but this activity we did decide to do together.
It was a really quick, thrown together learning activity that used the kitchen floor and chalk.

Firstly I drew around both the boys bodies, with chalk on the floor, and then I started to shout out the names of body parts.

The boys then had to draw crosses on the places where they thought the body parts were.

We did some easy things like eyes, mouth, knees and did harder options too.
That is the joy about this exercise, you can make it as hard or as easy as you want it to be, depending on the level your child is at.
So it is perfect for any age.
And all you need is chalk and a surface you can draw on, and with our tiles the chalk just rubbed straight off with a cloth.
It was such a hit that Boo wanted to do this activity again the next day.
It was great fun, and meant that they both learned a little about the human body, and had fun at the same time.
And the bonus for me was that it took seconds to set up and only a couple of minutes to pack away at the end of it.
Perfect for us all!
