Home Schooling Has Started

So like all of the country and I think most of the world we have the kids at home at the moment and have joined the many families that I already know that homeschool.

To be honest it has always been something we have debated as a family and we were really considering it when we first applied for a place for BB so it is something that has always been in the back of our mind.

But it isn’t something that I just expected to be thrown into.

We have already had over a week at home and we didn’t do any form of schooling over these days as I figured the best thing was to let the kids just be for a bit and we were off as Boo had been poorly so there was no point in overly pushing the whole schooling thing.

Then it was Rhiannas birthday and I didn’t want to push work on her birthday so we did a couple of bits and that was it.

Yesterday was the same just a few little bits of work done throughout the day.

Last night I felt a bit overwhelmed with it all if I am totally honest.

Having all this paper work that isn’t that organised and no real plan of what we were doing when really made me feel anxious and fed up if I am totally honest.

So last night I hit the Internet and searched out all the sites that the school told me were fantastic sites for leaning and tried to come up with some sort of plan for what we could and couldn’t do.

And actually it made me feel much better about the situation and less anxious.

I still have paper everywhere and this evening will definitely be about organising some sort of system for all this homeschooling.

But at the same time I feel a bit more in control of it now.

And today we have managed a lot of work.

We have done some school work, some spellings, some outside play, Lego and BB even managed to sign up for a marine Biologist lesson this afternoon.

Work has flowed a lot better and I feel a bit more in control of it.

And we are heading a bit of peak and learning some sign language and some Spanish as well as attempting to grow our own vegetables and the general life things like washing, cooking, budgeting etc.

It’s a whole new world and trying to work with a 6 year old and 11 year old is proving challenging at times.

But I am sure we will all do the best we can do and will get through this one way or the other.
