The Big 30

So today I am 30! Shh don’t tell anyone but it is true.

So do I feel different? No.

Do I feel I have grown up over night and become an adult? Err no, I am sure I shall still throw strops and cry over the simplest things. Do you ever truly grow up, I wonder?

It is has always been a milestone turning 30, when you are younger you always think it is old. I remember when my sister turned 30 I was 17 at the time and I thought it was so old compared to my age, and she was such a grown up. But I don’t feel that now. I don’t feel a grown up, yes I have a child now, but doesn’t mean I have grown up completely. I am responsible and I do grown up things, but I could still throw a paddy in exactly the same manner as Baba, its just he gets away with it more! So I don’t feel grown up.

I still have so many things I want to do, I have done a lot in my life so far, but there is a hell of lot more to do! Last year when I turned 29 I wrote this list to do before I was 30. None of them have really changed in the last year, but I have changed my perspective on them now.

1) I am never going to do another parachute jump, but I am amazingly grateful for doing one in the first place it was one of the best experiences ever and I will always remember how amazing it was.

2) I am working on my novel, and working though my writing course. It is going to be something that is going to take a while and is a work in progress project for me at the moment, but it is something that I will do before I am 40 it is being moved to that list.

3) Being published, well I don’t know why that was on the list I have been published. I was published at 13 and have the book in a cupboard somewhere. One of my poems was in an anthology, if I get published again fantastic, but you know what it has been done already.

4) Having my own business, is changing. Yes I will still have my own business, but Avon is taking a back burner I think. I am really moving into writing in a big way and there are some very exciting projects that I am involved in at the moment. But I am also setting up my own website and my own shop selling all of my scrapbooking arts and crafts, offering workshops, tutorials, home parties and writing an e-book. It is very busy but I am so excited about it all. By the age of 40 it is going to be thriving. I am taking a giant leap out of my comfort zone, but at the same time I am totally enjoying the preparation and I haven’t felt this alive for ages. So watch this space.

5) Travel the world Mr L and I decided last year it was a project for the next ten years to do. I have been to some amazing places and had some amazing opportunities. When I was 15 I went on a holy land cruise and saw Israel, Jerusalem, Turkey, and Greece it was an amazing experience and if Baba ever got the chance to do that I would grab it with both hands. Now at 30 I know how lucky I was that my parents worked themselves to the bone to let me go and will always be grateful for that.

6) Both Mr L and I want Baba to experience the different cultures out there and it is something that we are looking into and trying to save for. We both have family over the world so we really should take advantage of it, our parents didn’t and we want to break that mould.

7) Be financial independent we are getting there that is all I can say on that really. We have plans in place and at this moment in time they are working!

8) My scrapbooks and photos are also getting there they wont take much longer, but I am concentrating so much on the business at the moment that is taking priority but they will be done soon.

So what have I got planned by the time I am 40?

1) Travel the World

2) Extend our family

3) Move home.

4) Novel finished

5) Business thriving.

That is all but for this year my main focus is too loose weight, and start the business that is all I am focusing on this year. Keeping it nice and simple and then I shall achieve everything that I want!

  • Happy happy birthday, have a lovely day. I recall being a bit shocked when I turned 30 but I turned 40 there 2 weeks ago and am living it up bigtime. Jen

  • Many happy returns! Soon you’ll have to start converting your age to Celsius. 😉

Totally agree that when you’re young 30 seems aeons away. I turned 30 in 2000 and through my teens and early twenties that seemed such a mystical destination. When it happened it just happened; no fanfare. Good for you for setting out your next 10-year plan.

  • I am so gutted I missed this! I need to stop having a life and come back to being a social network tart!! ;o)

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!

Hope you had a fab time??!? 30! Wow… I bet you still get ID! Here’s to the next year! 😀

    Lots of love

Me, Jon & Oli Pops Xxx

    • Your ok you haven’t missed it hun, still celebrating. My niece and I are having our party later today so you are still ok for birthday celebrations. Thank you so much xx

  • Happy Birthday!! I turn 29 this year and have been contemplating what being 30 will be like….honestly I don’t think it will be much different! I really enjoyed reading this and you’ve inspired me to write a list of things I’d like to get done before I’m 30….not long to go really so I’d better pick carefully! 🙂

  • Don’t know how I missed this post? Your plans for your own business sound v exciting. Gary & I are the same, we want to be financially independent and couldn’t stand the thought of working for someone else again. This year we are going to really try and increase our income. Though, I lack so much motivation it’s hard! But it sounds like you are really going for it – well done!

    • I have the motivation I just never have the bloody time and it is doing my head in at the moment have to say. But I shall get there I am sure xx

We love comments so please leave some
