Taking Control
So I have been moaning lots lately.
How I have hated the house, not getting anything done, and just generally being in a right grump about everything.
It came to a head on Thursday I was so fed up. I was in a hideous mood and I could not get out of it.
I wasn’t enjoying time with the kids, I wasn’t happy doing things with Mr L I was just foul.
I hated everything and everyone.
Something had to change.
We have lived in this house for nearly seven years now, and when we moved we had lots of plans. Every year we do the garden and then it gets left over the winter and gets ruined, and we then go through the process of doing the garden again the next year. But nothing else in the house seems to get done.
Our house is all a bit the wrong way round, the biggest room is the loft, and downstairs has a massive hall, massive kitchen and a smaller lounge. We as a family with two boys and a very messy Mr L end up with a hideous mess in the lounge and all claustrophobic and its horrible.
We have always had plans to have downstairs open planned, and Thursday I had enough. Mr is a builder I know what it is like living with a builder, things never get done in your own house. So I decided to take charge.
We don’t have surplus money, we are saving for a wedding and are still paying of our debts so we don’t have a lot to spend on the house, and most things I suggest in the house get met with “We can’t do that because of a, b, and c”
So Friday morning I decided to take charge.
I wanted changes, and I wanted action, and just simply moaning about it wasn’t getting anything done. All it was doing, was making me feel worse, it wasn’t helping, it was making everything awful and so much worse. So it was time to get focused and get moving and start being productive.
I booked a friend, who is a builder to come around and chat to Mr about the changes we want to happen on the ground floor of our house, and I called my parents to come and help in the garden.
Our garden has been half filled with crap for months now, and it is horrible to look at. Dad came around cleaned the garden up and broke up all the crap and did numerous tip trips to get rid of the mess. By the end of Friday we had a half decent garden, we still have a broken fence panel but that we can live with for a little while. The fact was the rubbish was out of the place and the garden finally was once again usable.
In one day I felt tons better.
Today I woke up knowing that I could get out and use the garden, I hung the washing out, and all the work we have been planning for ages can be done in the house. It isn’t anything that can be started for a while, but the fact is we know we can do and when we are ready we can get cracking with it.
This afternoon, as Baba was round his friends playing, I managed to get out in the lovely weather and de weed the front garden flower borders, it took most of the afternoon, but it was a greatly satisfying experience and it is lovely to look out and see a clear garden now.
We still have all the flowers to sort in the back garden and this year I really want to sort out Rhianna Lily’s corner and we have a lot of work to do in our vegetable patch, but we are slowly getting there. And it feels so satisfying, and just two days down the line I feel better.
I couldn’t function properly hating the house.
While I was hating the house, it sucked all my energy for everything else out of my system. So now we are all systems go to get this place sorted and get the energy back in the right place so that work and studying can commence regularly and I can be productive everywhere! Rather than productive no where!

This is a great blog post. I am sorry you have been feeling low lately. I can understand why though. Nothing better than that wave of light hitting you and you take action. It’s a really positive thing to do Kerry so try and stay on that same path. Hugs to you x
Thanks Emma, I think I fell back off. But hopefully back on it now x
