Staunton Country Park

Tuesday we met up with my sister and her children and took Baba to Staunton Country Park. I wanted to do something different and fun, and I also wanted to be kept busy this week before Rhianna’s funeral. It broke the week up nicely as it meant that Baba and I had something different to do, something that could take all our thoughts away and something that meant we could just have great fun instead.

Even though it was a little cold, and grey, and looked like it could rain any time, we all had a fantastic time. Baba loved it from the moment we got to the gate, we saw lots of baby animals.

These tiny baby goats were the first thing that we saw, and they got an “awwww” reaction from Baba straight away.

As soon as we moved on from the goats we saw a selection of piglets that had only been born nine days earlier.

After we saw the piglets, we saw a very pregnant donkey, who was heavily pregnant and we could see the baby moving around in her tummy. Baba and his cousins thought this was fascinating although we got told not to touch her, incase she gave birth and the baby bite us all!

We saw another breed of piglets, who looked a little like pot belly’s but they weren’t and I can’t remember what breed they were, but I would have happily have taken one of them home there and then as I thought they were fantastic.

After the piglets we went to see the baby rabbits who were so diddy, all of the children wanted one and were able to stroke them. They were unbelievably cute, and looked lovely. We saw lots and lots of guinea pigs who had their own houses in their runs, Baba thought these were fantastic and thought that Daddy could make one of them for Stewie. I love that he has so much faith in what Daddy can do!

We were very lucky to see lots of lambs, and some that had been born earlier that day. The farmer was busy checking the sex and caring for the mums in a big marquee and all the children were able to stand on the fences and have the lambs held up to them. What a great experience for them all.

The day was literally topped off by the four peacocks we saw. I think it was only the one really, but Baba was convinced it was four and I am not arguing with him.

We all love peacocks in our family and often when we have been here we haven’t seen them, so to see them that amount of times was fantastic.

It was fantastic to see the peacock up so close, it really didn’t seem to mind all of the people around it.

I was amazed that it stood for so long to have all the pictures taken. But the best thing in the world was when we saw it later in the day and it was completely open, and just stood there waiting to be photographed.

It was a beautiful site, and it was almost like we had a little person coming around with us that day. It made the whole day that little bit more special.
