Recovery!

So Baba has been home for over 24 hours now, nearly 48 hours and in some aspects he has been really really good, in others it has been very difficult.

When he first got home, he was full of beans and was running around like nothing had happened. By five pm he had a temperature and was shattered. He went to bed early and he had a bad night, the temperature remained and he was crying throughout his sleep. He must have cried five or six times. He woke at five to say goodbye to Daddy and then woke at seven for a drink and then slept till eight thirty now anyone who knows Baba will know that this is unheard off. Between six and seven is usually wake up time for him so that was different. Although we did expect him to be sleepy.

Yesterday was an OK day, he seems to get tired very quickly and gets upset about the strangest of things. He threw a complete temper tantrum yesterday because he couldn’t find the bus jigsaw piece it had just been turned upside down. Little things like this would never usually bother him but yesterday they did. He got tired very quickly but would not give in, he was tired by about ten and then he just sat on the sofa watching TV until three when he finally went to sleep. Again there was lots of crying in his sleep, he seems uncomfortable in his sleep. We have been suggested Arnica which I shall go and get today! But once asleep he slept for a couple of hours and woke up well. However within two hours he wanted to go back to bed so again had an early night!

He has been fantastic with the aftercare that he has to have, he needs his eyes cleaned with a tissue and water three times a day. Once they are cleaned we then have to apply cream on both eyes and rub it in also three times a day. He is a superstar when this has to be done. He lay’s down and doesn’t complain. I think it is actually cooling and nice for him. He has been totally fantastic, he is taking pain relief no problem and has been great.

He isn’t eating, yesterday he had a few bits of chocolate, banana and some chips. He is refusing things that we know he likes, and is asking for eggy bread, yoghurts etc. I am not sure whether the anaesthetic is making things taste funny I know it did when I had it in the past, so am thinking it may be that. This morning he has had half a banana, usually breakfast in our house, is banana, apple and grapes, and two yoghurts so he is off his food.

Last night was again a really bad night, we had lots of crying and shouting in his sleep. Again he had a temperature in the middle of the night, but the worse thing is the shouting and crying. He doesn’t wake but his brain is obviously very active last night he kept shouting for his mussies (his rags) which he only want’s when upset or tired. I am not sure if it is memories, or the anaesthetic is causing bad dreams I have no idea. I know he will be with us until he stops, as at the moment I don’t think he could sleep in his single bed, he is thrashing around so much in his sleep. Kicking and moving from one side of the bed to the other that I think he would probably fall out of a single bed.

He has woken this morning very quiet and is already saying that he is tired. He has drowned down a cupful of drink, he is drinking loads. We shall just see how he goes. I have got to go to the dentist today so my mum is coming to sit with him for fifteen minutes, I hope that he is ok as he is very clingy. But it is just trial and error and see how he gets on really!
