And We Keep Going
Yesterday Baba gave us a scare by lunch time he had developed a rash that was all over his hands, knees and mouth. It looked a little like measles but there was a part of me that thought that it was hand, foot and mouth. So we made an appointment for the doctors in the afternoon and waited.
He was eating a little better, he had Weetabix for breakfast and half a banana and then asked for some lunch. He asked for bread and butter, ham, cheese and some crisps which I gave him. He managed to eat everything and only had his crisps left. Well he put one in his mouth and started screaming the place down and saying it hurt, so I had a look and realised he had spots all in his mouth! This is when I thought he had hand, foot and mouth.
We got to the doctors and were told that an allergic reaction to anaesthetic can take up to 72 hours to come out and that was what it was. We were given some piriton and told to keep an eye on it, make sure that his throat doesn’t swell or he has trouble breathing, and that if it hasn’t gone by Monday to go back.
Last night it was really red and angry his feet, knees, legs, bottom, hands and all around his mouth are the worse affected areas. But he has been taking his medicine really well, he does not like the piriton but we are managing to get it in with the offer of a little coke. I know not the greatest thing, but seriously I am willing for him to have anything to make sure he takes what he needs and this seems to be working!
After his doctors appointment we both had a dentist appointment and as my mum and dad had taken us down, due to my car being broken! I decided that I wouldn’t bother taking Baba in with me. I think he has been through enough this week without the dentist as well.
I must have known something was going to happen, once I was in the dentist they told me that I had to had my wisdom tooth out. I had the bottom right wisdom tooth taken out a long time ago, and the top right was growing down to try to meet the whole that had been made. It also had a massive hole in it, so they took it out there and then. Oh wasn’t it painful, having the injection. But it was done very quickly, and it is OK. There is a dull ache but nothing more. So we were all feeling a little out of it last night, and I have to admit I was dreading sleeping last night as Baba has been so restless the past few nights. But I was proved wrong.
He slept like a dream last night, no crying in his sleep, no shouting, or screaming. Just pure sleep. Which I was very grateful for. I think he really needed it so hopefully it has helped him. He has woke with the rash still angry but he has taken his medicine again and has had a little breakfast so we shall see how today goes. Hopefully we are on the right road now! Let’s hope!
