Parenting Isn’t Always Easy
This weekend has been quiet a hard weekend with Baba I wont lie, Mr L and I have both found it hard, and testing. It wasn’t so much that there was one specific thing that Baba was doing it was just a collection of things that just kept happening, and it was wearing and really tiring.
Saturday I wrote about the hellish day that we had Saturday, and I have to admit yesterday was better, but he still had his moments. Moments of sheer “I’m just going to ignore Mummy and Daddy” moments. He ran out of a shop, he laid down in the middle of a store, and hid in some clothes so that we couldn’t find him. All things that he knows he shouldn’t be doing, but stuff that he is doing anyway! It is so frustrating that he is doing these things. I am sure that he is testing boundaries again, checking out what he can and can’t do, but I would prefer him to stop to be honest.
Although the worst thing this weekend has been his sleeping. Baba has always been a fantastic sleeping, he has had a story, has his CD on and goes to sleep, and remains that way all night. Recently he has been playing up for Mr L and has been screaming and shouting whenever he has been put to bed, claiming that he is scared and that he wants Mr L to stay with him and lay with him until he falls asleep. But he has remained the same at going to bed for me, and has been doing his usual routine as per always.
However this weekend has been different. Baba hasn’t gone to sleep before 10pm either night. Both nights he has been up and down up and down, he needs the toilet, then he doesn’t, he needs a light on then off, he needs his CD on then off. Then he is crying as he has been told off and he is uncontrollable it is never-ending. One thing after another all the time. Until eventually at 10pm he is so shattered that he has to give in as he can’t cope anymore. To be honest, by then Mr L and I are shattered too.
I am not sure whether he is testing us again, how many times can you put it all down to testing us! Or what is going on? If anyone has any advice we would be ever so grateful as it is 10.30am and I am already dreading bedtime this evening! I just don’t want to be going through this all again…

I’m convinced there comes a point when you’re a parent, that your biorhythms and those of your child simply interfere with each other and nothing goes right. The waves then shift and it’s all plain sailing again. Or I may be talking rubbish. It has been known. 🙂
I like your theory it seems to have settled down now have to admit, so you may be 100% correct there! xx
oh honey, It is cliche but really sitting down with the other half and making a plan and sticking to it for a few weeks normally sorts it out!!
Good luck
He is getting much better have to admit, it has been a tough couple of days, but I think that he has got over the worst of it now! xx
