National Book Lovers Day
Today is National Book Lovers Day and as anyone who has ever read my book knows I love a good book.
A couple of years ago I was really upset with my lack of reading so made sure I changed my alarm of a morning and started recording the books that I had read.
That was three years ago.
In the first year I read sixteen books.
In 2019 I read fifty books.
This year I am currently on book number thirty of 2020.

I love reading and I love this system I have of writing down the books that I have read. For one I am finally getting through the ridiculous pile of books that we have in our house.
Secondly it gives me a great feeling of achievement, seeing all the books I have read in that past year.
Thirdly I love the escapism of a book.
It doesn’t matter how bad I feel.
Or how rubbish I feel.
I can always escape in a book.
I can hide away.
I can forget my worries and anxieties and I can just live a different life for a while.
I also love the things you can learn from a book.
I don’t always pick the non fiction books, I love a biography and one that researches things.
I love learning at my own pace, reading a book enables me to do that.
Reading is something I always remember my mum doing as a child, it is something I have always loved to do and thankfully I have two boys that love to read and escape into a book as much as I do.
I love watching them read and love seeing the range of books they go to when we are in a book shop and the choice they make when we buy them.
And I love that now BB is getting old enough that he tells me books to read and I love the choices of books that he makes for himself.
Nothing beats hiding away in a book in my opinion whether it is a real physical book or a book on a kindle it doesn’t matter to me, it is the reading that is most important to me and I love being a book lover it is something I am super proud of and love that it has passed down to the boys as well.
