Journaling
Do you write a journal?
I have always been a person that starts a journal and never completes it for the year, I have a couple of months written and that is it the rest of the year is completely empty.
The only journal I have ever started and have ever completed fully, is the one I started in 2012 the year Rhianna Lily died, it put me off journaling for a long time after that I have to be honest.
It felt a bit like the only time I actually managed to journal was when the worst thing ever happened to me, and I felt it was a bit of an omen to journal.
Silly I know.
But not something I could shift.
I stepped away from it completely and I did miss it, but I couldn’t bring myself to start another one.
But someone convinced me not to journal like I had journaled before, but instead to write a gratitude journal and fill it with all the things I was grateful for.

This is what I have done for the last year, every day since November 24th 2019 I have written in this Mary Poppins notebook. I have generally written down three things that I am grateful for on that day, sometimes, not massively often but sometimes I have written more than three things. But I have never written less than three things.
It is my journal that is full of things I am thankful for and you know what I completely love this journal.
It is a year full diary of all the good things that have happened to us over the last year.
I do this every night, so before I go to sleep I am thinking of all the good things that I am grateful for.
There are so many benefits for writing down things you are grateful for, it can make you feel calmer, it can make you happier, it can lower your stress levels, and regardless of all of these things it creates lovely memories when you look back on this journal after a bit of time.
As I have been writing in my journal for the last year I have been having a little nose at some of the things that I have written down, just reading them now takes me right back to the day and I can instantly remember what we were doing on the day. It really does make reading the journal so lovely.
It is full of all the lovely things that have happened.
Yes we have had bad days in the last year, but we also had three good things on every day even in the middle of a pandemic and I think that is something to be celebrated.
I can’t wait to complete this journal with the next few months worth of three things I am grateful for each day, I am not going to get another year in this notebook. So I will have to start the hunt for another amazing notebook to continue my gratitude journal when I finish this notebook, that could be a task in itself as how can you possibly follow a Mary Poppins notebook?
