I Love My Filofax, I Do…

Recently trying to keep on top of things, hasn’t been the easiest of tasks.

Mainly because Baba has been at home, for nearly three weeks now, due to being ill as well as his Easter Holidays. Having him at home is fantastic and I love every single moment of it, but it does make working from home difficult. Baba has to be amused, he is that type of child. He loves to do things and he doesn’t stop from the moment he gets up until he sleeps.

He is generally good at doing things on his own, but to be honest who wants to do stuff on their own, no one really, and he loves to do things with me and I love to do things with him as well. He doesn’t however like me sitting down and working and I do try my hardest not to work when he is around.

So since he has got better my last few weeks have been playing Monopoly, watching movies, gardening and having a few days out! Just what he likes.

But not a lot of work! Things that needed to be done, were not being done and the organisation that I have worked so hard to try to get on top of was not happening. I knew that something had to change and I needed to get a system of being organised.

I have so many things that I have to be on top off, with the business, Baba, studying my writing course, which never gets done, and all of my blogs. I must have organisation to keep on top of them all.

I tried to find different answers and then I got chatting to Nickie from Typecast and saw her fantastic blog about her filofax and I instantly knew what I had to do.

Mr L brought me this filofax last year for my birthday, and I loved it the instant that he brought it but it really wasn’t living up to its full potential.

But along with Nickie’s post and after looking at all the free downloads over at Philofaxy I knew that I could make my filofax live up to its potential with a few adjustments.

I decided that the first job was making some of my own dividers. After all I do have a surplus supply of paper, so I went and brought an A5 hole punch for the filofax and a big bunch of plain A5 paper to get ready to transform the filofax.

I chose the black paper, and then added black circles to give the dividers an edge bigger than the rest of the paper in the filofax. I sat and sorted out the different sections that I needed, and ended up with 14 different sections. Ones for Scrapbookerry, writing (all the blogs are divided) studying, craft writing and lots of others ideas.

I downloaded the weekly planner from Philofaxy and then designed some of my own templates for blogging and craft writing articles. These forms are nice and simple, basically the idea for the post and the date it is posted. I could have made this more elaborate but I decided along with the planner I didn’t need to as I can set specific blogging time on my weekly planner.

I even brought a couple of sharpie pens so that my diary can be a little colour coded.

It is a really simple system but I just do little coloured stars next to the Writing/Blogging jobs and the Scrapbookerry/Crafting jobs so that I can tell in advance what I have planned to do.

I have even taken my Scrapbookerry order forms and printed them off onto A5 paper so they are all in the filofax so people can order and I can write it down on the spot. This section I love.

Everything is really simple, but great for what I need right now, and I am so pleased with it.

Literally everything I need is there at my finger tips and I am finding it so easy to relieve the stress of thinking I have too much to do as it is all organised and in black and white in front of me.

Now the trick is to always remember to put everything that I need to into the filofax, let’s hope I don’t forget.
