Easter Holidays

Today should be the start of the boys Easter Holidays.

Obviously they have been home for the last two weeks, and who knows how long they will actually end up being home for.

But this should be their holiday. And this will be their holiday.

We debated last night whether we should actually continue doing a little school work over the Easter holiday but in the end decided that we wouldn’t and would give them the whole holiday break that they would usually have.

Out whole world’s have changed, and our children’s whole world’s have changed too. They have suddenly been taken away from school, no longer see their friends, can’t see relatives, can’t go out for adventures out and suddenly have their parents teaching them instead of their teachers.

Life has completely changed and I think they are so good at adapting and moving forward that it is hard to always remember how much they are dealing with and how much they really don’t understand in this current crazy world.

So we decided it was important to continue the holiday.

They are tired, their lives have changed and they do need a break.

Although we also had to discuss what we were going to do to make these two weeks different to the normal home learning days that have quickly become the norm for us.

We can’t go anywhere, ordinarily we would be in the caravan on the beach and would be enjoying a well earned break.

Instead we have tried to think of some activities to do that will make these two weeks different to all the other weeks we have been and will be at home.

So far we have…

Movie nights

Sleepovers in the other rooms of the house.

Sleepovers outside in the garden in the pop up tent.

Kids in charge day.

Watching the sunset.

Watching the sunrise.

Easter egg hunts.

Easter activities.

Video calling family at different times!

We are always changing and thinking about what to do and trying to make sure we have things to add to the list that would be helpful for all of us, to make this a holiday rather than work.

But if you have any others ideas I would love to know them!
