Getting Ready For School
Last Wednesday Mr L and I walked into our old stomping ground.
Our old primary school and sat down for the first of many visits for the new parents open evening.
We listened to what the school has to offer, meet Baba’s new teacher, the PTA. Got a list of the hot meals that Baba can have and found out the sports house that he will be in for the next seven years.
We left the evening with dates until July 2014, including term dates, parents evening, harvest festivals, inset days, school nativities and sports days. Our lives are mapped out.
We have dates for school visits, Baba’s visits and my own personal one to one with the teacher.
We have packs to fill in, one for us and one for Baba to colour and write everything about him in!
It is finally happening and we can no longer put it off, come September Baba will be a fully fledged Primary School child. He is ready, he has been ready since last September. He is an October birth, he is the third eldest in his year!
But I am not sure I am ready.
I wish his last year at home had have been a little less traumatic.
I wish that he hadn’t spent it all on his own, as he shouldn’t have he should have had his little sister here. (How do you bring that up with his teacher? That isn’t a conversation I am looking forward to!) It has been a really hard year, and I wish it hadn’t been as hard as it was and I wish that there weren’t so many tears and I hope that he doesn’t remember how awful this year has been.
These last few months are so important to me.
They are the last days we have before the life of school starts. Before we know it those thirteen years will be gone and Baba will be an adult. It scares me.
We are trying to make these months fun and do things that we can’t do when he is at school.
We are hitting the cinemas on Tuesdays in the middle of the day and having a lot of fun times together.
I don’t know whether I will be ready in September, I maybe I seem to think that I wont! And I am not sure how I will cope on that first day, any tips out there?
