Finding The Beauty Around You

One thing I have loved about lockdown is the chance to stop, slow down and appreciate all the beautiful places around us.

Before lockdown weekends we would be running around with kids activities, shopping, food shopping, etc etc and actually wasting a lot of our time.

Now we can’t do that we have changed tactic a bit and have explored places closer to home and near as when we have been out.

And you know what it has really made me realise how lucky we are and the real beauty that is around us.

Today Mr L took us all to a place where he went with his parents as a child, somewhere the boys and myself have never been.

It was lovely.

There were stories to be told and history to be learnt and it really was a gorgeous day out.

If life was ‘normal’ we wouldn’t have gone there today.

I don’t know if we would have ever really gone there.

As I doubt we would really have had a whole day free and spare like we have at the moment.

Which would have meant the boys and I wouldn’t have experienced this, and Mr L wouldn’t have shown us something from his childhood that we hadn’t seen before.

And that would have been sad really as today really was a lovely day.

Don’t get me wrong lockdown is hard, and has been hard for many and awful at times.

But sometimes in all the hard bits there are some really lovely parts too.

Things like slowing down.

Being creative with your time and where you go.

Exploring more.

Taking in the surroundings and seeing and realising actually how lucky you really are.

They are the moments that we have lost I think in our crazy lives.

They are the moments that we need to remember and learn from when this is over and our new normal, how ever that may be returns!

Memories, family, friends and moments are the things we need to take from this lockdown.

Today all of ours were filled to the brim I have to say!
