Finding Bugs for #30DaysWild

We have still been plodding along doing our 30 days wild.

We certainly haven’t done as many things as I had original hoped as the weather has been hideous.

But we have done some walks, feed the ducks, read some wildlife books, watched out for snails and today the boys wanted to do some serious bug hunting.

So after school I needed to clean out the car so off the boys went bug hunting and seeing what treasures they could find in the front garden.

They didn’t find anything spectacular but they did find some ants and a lot of woodlice that they put in some pots filled with mud and leaves for while they were looking and then left the pots on the flower beds as we were heading back indoors. So the bugs had a chance to get out and head back to their homes.

It was great fun to watch.

The fact that both the boys were actually talking and working together rather than just arguing was amazing as all they have been doing recently is arguing with each other.

So to have them doing something and really enjoying each others company was a real delight and amazing that nature can do that.

It was also great that Boo listened to everything BB was telling him, how to look for bugs, how to make their temporary home great for them and safe for them and just absorbing everything he actually said to him.

They had so much fun that they were doing it for a good two hours only being called in as it was tea time, and they actually spent all their afternoon outside.

We still have plans for our 30 days wild, I still want to start these eco bricks which haven’t yet happened but I am hoping to attempt to do them this week at some point.

But for now we are appreciating the small things, and loving just being outside and exploring our normal every day lives.
