End of Term Looming
This time last year we were at the end of Baba’s first school year. The biggest milestone had happened and Mr L and I couldn’t quite believe that our baby was moving into his second year of Primary school.
In a blink of an eye year one is nearly finished and we are gearing up for him to start year two.
He started year two a little boy, fresh out of reception, eager to learn, full of ideas and he has grown and developed so much this last year. He has learnt things that we didn’t actually think were possible.
He has excelled in things this year, and seems to have a natural love for books, and writing, something that he takes after me in. It is totally the norm for him to have his head embedded in a book nowadays and he is developing a love for Horrid Henry and any books that are full of facts.
He has also developed a love for maths, and we quite often hear him discussing maths problems with Boo, and drawing shapes, and designs for things he is going to make.
He has just been eager to learn from the minute he started year one, and has had a great school year. One that he has enjoyed, and has had great fun in. He had a brilliant report, and from the beginning of the year to now he has grown, he has grown physically, this year alone we have gone up three sizes in his school clothes, he has gone up in shoe size in the middle of the year, and has generally shot up massively, to become one, if not the, tallest in the sky. But he has also grown mentally. When he started the year, it was commented on that he could be quite silly, and he didn’t always listen, but by the end of the year the silliness has gone, the desire to learn and to grow has replaced it and he always listens and wants to know. If he doesn’t know he asks, if he does know he tells you, and if you don’t know the answer he tries to find it out.
He is a sponge and I hope it continues.
Lets hope year two is as productive as year one has been!
