Embracing The Market
We are very lucky, we live near some great markets. And regular ones too.
We have a market on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday near by every week.
But it is something that I bypass, mainly because I am really lazy, it is much easier to go to one shop where I can buy all of Boo’s nappies and milk etc with my food. It is easier to do a big monthly shop in one place, but I really don’t think it is the most cost-effective.
With the wedding coming up, this is our last month to put in a good financial boost to the wedding fund, and I am trying to be very good with our money. I have set us a budget each week so that we can have the most money we can ready for Wedding expenses, but with a car service coming up it is going to be tight.
So today when I realised we still had quite a lot in our cupboards and freezer and that all we really needed was fruit and veg I decided to go to the market.
Embrace it as it were.
After all it was a lovely day.
And I am glad that I did.

It was quite quiet being that it was midweek, and the market has two fruit and veg stalls and it was obvious that one today was excelling with its veg and the other with its fruit.

So I used them both, hitting the veg first I got everything that I needed except sweet potato and butternut squash, which I admit I went and brought in the supermarket.
I then went round to the other stall to get my fruit and picked up lots of different varieties things that we love but don’t always manage to get.
And for all this fruit and veg I only spent £11.90.
It was amazing the bag loads I got for so little.
Going to the supermarket to buy one butternut squash and a bag of sweet potatoes I spent £2.50. A big difference if you ask me.
It is something that I think I have to get into a routine of doing, dropping Baba at school and Boo and I going straight to the market, get it out-of-the-way quickly, spend less, and get a whole lot more.
I need to embrace the market more often, and actually have a good look around to see what else as who knows what is lurking round the corner.
Do you use the market often? Do you have a market near you?

Markets are brilliant, I love the atmosphere especially outdoor ones.
I love markets as well, and will be going back for sure xx
