Cannon Watching

A couple of weeks ago we went to one of our favourite shopping places, we never really shop there, more go for a little wander around and have a look at different shops. It is one of my favourite places but was also the last place we had been as a family before Rhianna died and I did find it hard have to admit. I didn’t want it to always make me sad and really wanted to go back there so that it was a happy place again.

It was a beautiful day when we got there, we were really lucky with the weather and Baba had a fantastic time running around and eating ice cream.

We were all sitting down having a nice drink when we heard over the speakers that a cannon was being set off in a couple of minutes time. We were not sure that Baba would like it, as he is a bit funny with noises, but we thought he would be better seeing it than not seeing it and just hearing the bang. We thought that would scare him more.

We explained to Baba that a cannon was going off and that we were going to watch it and that it would be very very loud. He wasn’t really sure what was happening but he was excited and eagerly sat on Daddies shoulders waiting for the event to happen.

The cannon was big and the crowd was getting quite large luckily we were at the front of the crowd. The man started telling us about what was going to happen and then suddenly he let of the cannon.

By god it was loud…

It made me jump and Baba literally leapt out of Daddies shoulders, Mr L said there was an actual gap between his shoulders and Baba’s bottom as he leapt so high. But he didn’t scream that was a bonus.

In actual fact he loved it and thought that it was brilliant and was quickly asking to see the cannon being set off again.

It was a great highlight to the day and made the whole visit a completely different one to the one that we had the time before. It made it a special day and was another great new experience for Baba this summer holidays. (He has had a huge amount of them now)
