Bronchitis
After a week of battling a cough, downing the disgusting cough medicine and nothing much happening I finally decided to give in and go and see a doctor.
I was ill, I had been ill, and secretly had my suspicions that I had Bronchitis like Boo, but tried to live with the virus tag.
As soon as I got to the doctors I was scared half to death when she told me the good news was that I didn’t have pneumonia, that had literally not even entered my head. But she did say that I had bronchitis and I did have it quite badly.
She decided that it was the end of the infection so not antibiotics would work and the best thing would be to give me an inhaler. Years ago when I was still at school I used to have an inhaler, for a hay fever type allergy but haven’t had one for a long time, however this time she wanted me to have an inhaler with a spacer, which is absolutely huge. As my tubes are so blocked she wanted me to take short breaths rather than a large one.
So there I was having a lesson on how to use my new inhaler and my spacer in the pharmacy before I was allowed to leave. Instantly I felt my chest loosen and it has helped, the cough is still massively there, but the inhaler is helping and I am getting to sleep and no longer being violently sick because I am coughing so hard. Although today I barely have a voice, but I am sure that is just another part of this illness.
To say I haven’t felt this rotten for a long time is the truth, and I feel so bad for Boo if he has felt half as ill as I have with his bronchitis. It is shattering and draining and makes your whole body ache with the constant coughing and fighting to cough.
He seems much better in himself and his antibiotics seem to really be helping, as he is still too young for an inhaler. But neither of us are completely better and I think it is going to take a while before we both get there. But thank goodness I no longer have a virus and finally have something that can be treated and seem to slowly be getting better!
