Boo’s Present

Yesterday it was Boo’s first birthday and to be honest he has everything he could possibly need. From the moment we had Baba we have kept everything, so there is literally nothing he needs.

So we thought and thought about it, and decided that a table and chair would be a good thing.

Baba has a little stool that was brought from him when he was one and I wanted Boo to have the same.

But I didn’t just want them to be any table and chair. I wanted them to be unique and that meant some creative flair from me.

We managed to pick up a great little chair from a friend that was the perfect size for Boo and needed some TLC.

Once this chair had a good clean, scrub and sand down it was a perfect little chair so we went to decide on the paint.

We let Baba get involved at this point, and he decided on blue, orange and yellow, as he wanted orange and yellow stars and circles. After much debate we decided stars would be too difficult to do around the chair so we would do a big star on the table instead.

So the chair got the dotty treatment and I have to admit when it was finished it looked fantastic.

Next job was to work on the table.

We got a very large table, it was a perfect top but far to high so once Mr L had cut the legs of it was a perfect size and I could get on with the painting.

It was already blue, but wasn’t the right blue to match the chair, so it needed a couple of coats of the right colour to get it matching the chair and then I drew a large star on the top of the table and the other side drew a large square that was painted with chalkboard plant as I want the table to last a while and wanted Boo to have a space to use his chalks when he is a little older safely and happily.

I carried on the dot theme down all the legs of the table so that it matched in with the chair.

Once everything was dry I went over all the dots and the star with a black sharpie pen to highlight them all and to make them stand out brighter than they already where.

I was really pleased with the finished project.

It is bright and funky a perfect height for Boo and he loved it spending most of yesterday walking around and around his chair.
