Big Bro’s New Bedroom
All Big Bro wanted for his birthday was a new bedroom.
It was all his list consisted off.
A new bed, different coloured walls, new lampshade, new desk and a new wardrobe.
There literally was nothing else on his birthday list so Mr L and I knew that we had to get cracking and make his bedroom a more teenager adult room and get away from the kids themed room that he had before.
Last week we decided to get cracking with the big reveal being done on BB’s birthday.
Now it was a massive task as BB keeps a lot of junk in his room and actually has quite a big room.
Getting the stuff out of the room was probably the biggest mission, then he had to decide what he wanted to keep and what he wanted to get rid of.
This was a massive task in itself and there was a load of things that BB wanted to get rid of, four days later we are still trying to find places for all the bits he doesn’t want in his room and currently they are taking up the whole house. There are bits in the hallway, spare room and bits in his brothers room that I am just not really sure where they can all permanently live.
But regardless of that, and regardless of his stuff taking over the whole house his room thankfully looks amazing.
He decided to go for a bluey colour and picked a colour called Neptune it was completely different to the very pale mint he had before.

It is a lovely colour but one that took forever to actually cover the walls I ended up doing three coats on the walls before they were covered well enough to be finished.
We then went with a black and silver theme throughout his room.
We reused some of my old New York frames that I haven’t had up for years as they suited his room perfectly.

He got a new bed and curtains, and a fab duvet that is black one side and a silvery grey the other side. Making it the perfect duvet cover for his room.
We managed to get him the perfect table. A gorgeous black large table that we picked up second hand, and is the perfect size for BB to be able to do his homework and store his geckos in and fits in the corner beautifully.

Mr L then worked his magic in the alcove part of BB’s bedroom and made him a lovely little wardrobe area perfect for any preteen.

It was the perfect upgrade for BB and we also got him a very funky light for the main light in his room but it does need to be fitted by an electrician so he does have to wait for that to be fitted before it is completely finished.
But that is a minor detail compared to the rest of the room and he can deal with waiting for that as he has it already and knows it is happening so is happy to wait until we can get an electrician around.
But until then he is so happy with his room and his face lit up on his birthday morning finally getting to see the finished product as he knew we had been working on it all week but hadn’t seen any of it.
So even though it was a mammoth task it was totally worth it as the room looks fab and it is everything that he wanted, and he is so so happy with it.
