Baba’s Choice
We have always included Baba in everything related to Rhianna, as much as he can understand.
One thing that we have tried to do is never to force him to go to her grave. It is something that we want him to do, and not something that he feels he has to do because we want him to do.
After all Rhianna is his sister and in the long-term, it will be him that will carry on going to Rhianna’s grave. Neither Mr L or I want Baba to feel it is a chore we want him to like going there to celebrate his sister.
We never push him, we talk about her all the time, and we often discuss going to her grave if Baba says no, then we leave it. But it doesn’t happen very often.
More often than not Baba will just say out of the blue “let’s go to see Rhianna” and we always follow it through. We make sure that whenever we asks to go we go.
He asked to go on Monday, so once Mr L got home we went and found some flowers, which Baba loves to pick, and then went up to Rhianna.
Baba has a little ritual where he does the watering, as we sort out the flowers, but he loves watering the flowers and sorting out the feathers. That he seems to find every time that we go up to Rhianna’s grave. She is getting quite a collection at the moment. Everything that Baba does up there is his choice and he loves going up there to see his little sister, and makes both of us so proud that he is so protective of Rhianna’s garden, as he says “just like her big brother should Mummy”
