Animals Animals Animals
Baba has loved animals literally from the moment he was born, I suppose that is because he has always been around them. When he was born we had Tyson the hamster and our dog Tito, his Nan had two cats and my sister quickly got a dog themselves, so he has grown up with animals.
When he was a year old we brought him some fish as he loved them so much and then went on to buy him two rabbits as well, after a couple of visits to local farms and seeing his love for them. We were never great fish owners, and all fish died very quickly we tried it a couple of times and nothing seemed to work. But we kept the tank just in case we ever decided to have another go at a later date, maybe it was fate I don’t know but the tank quickly got filled with Mr Snail our Giant African Snail who is rapidly growing at an incredibly fast rate! He is a little gross I have to admit but Baba loves him.
This love of animals seems to be growing and growing. He constantly asks to watch animal documentaries on TV and I think we are going to end up buying him a selection of them for either Christmas or Birthday as that is all that he wants to watch. He bypasses toys for animal books, the latest being a book on snakes! Yes they do seem to be his favourite animal ever. He literally can not get enough of animals.
He is at his most happiest either walking the dog, feeding the rabbits, or just standing and watching Mr Snail. I love watching him with animals, but I have to say his knowledge of them is actually a little daunting, in that he knows near enough everything his father and I know at just under three what will he be like in a couple of years!
I love that he loves animals, and love that he is so interested in them and I know his obsession could be for something a lot worse than animals, so I am pleased about that. I also love that his bedtime story sometimes is the encyclopedia about insects and spiders rather than another story book. I love his thirst for knowledge and that every time he is watching something that he really enjoys he is also learning new things, and building his knowledge. Do you have a child with a strong likeness/obsession?
