A Week Later…
So it has been a week since Baba’s operation and every day he totally amazed Mr L and myself with how well he coped. He never complained, he never moaned. On the day of the operation he didn’t cry, he didn’t scream he just accepted what had to be done. We were so proud of him.
Shocked as well at how badly we had judged him, we could not have been more wrong with how he was going to cope with the whole thing. He was fine with his puffy eyes the stitches underneath, the cream and cleaning that we had to do on a daily basis. He was fine with the allergic reaction to the anesthetic. He never moaned even when the spots turned to blisters on his toes and he couldn’t wear shoes only slippers outside. He never moaned. He was fine with not being able to go out, not seeing people, missing school, his days at both his Nannies seeing his cousins. He never once complained.
He was a complete and utter star and coped with it all.
Yesterday it all changed, he is bored. He is better, he doesn’t want to be in. He doesn’t want to be at home and do you know what I don’t really blame him. I am bored as well. For seven days, five out of them have been just me and Baba. Yes we have the occasional visit, but generally from 5.30am till 7.00pm it has been Baba and I, Baba and Mummy, and you know what I think he is bored of me. He is bored of my voice, the walls of our house, and do I dare say it I think he is bored of his toys.
We don’t usually spend the whole day at home, unless it is hideous outside. We usually at least walk the dog, and we say lots of people with babies and children of Baba’s age. This last week we didn’t do any of that. So we were very one on one!
At first it was fine, Baba felt rough. He didn’t want to do anything, he just wanted to watch DVD’s but you know what we have nearly watched them all.
Yesterday I suffered the consequences. We have been lenient he has had an operation, we did let him get away with things that he probably would not, but over the weekend we have been putting the boundaries back in place. He was doing fine with it, although yesterday he decided he didn’t like this game anymore.
All day we had issues, either being rude to Nanny and Grandad, hitting me, throwing or just simply stropping. To having the same behaviour at our friends house. I was really embarrassed and hated him behaving like that. We came home and he spent the rest of the afternoon on and off the naughty step to be honest. (I don’t use this willy nilly either) But he was throwing things repeatedly, he hit me, he hit the dog. They were things that I was not happy with.
Mr L came home and the behaviour stayed the same. Mr L is a real target at the moment, Baba seems to be trying to hit him at every given moment. I am not sure what is going on there but something needs to stop.
I can see that he is bored but at the moment, we are a little stuck. He should be fine for school on Friday but we have been told to be cautious of too many children till then really. So that takes out all sorts of play centres, we can’t go swimming or anything like that! So I am hoping the weather will be nice for the rest of the week to be honest. As I think we will be going for lots of walks, as not really sure what else to do. I don’t want him to be confined in the house any longer, but obviously I need to be sensible for his eyes as well.
So I am open to ideas here, do you have any great plans that I can do with Baba over the next few days to keep him entertained? Otherwise the equation is simple, boredom = bad behaviour! And I really don’t want that!

Have the hospital told you he has to be inside? Why not ring them and ask, perhaps you can go to toddlers etc
Yes he was allowed out but not allowed large groups until a week after his op, which is from tomorrow onwards. He went up my mums though so had a great time up there! xx
coloring, sorting out cabinets, folding laundry
I love the sorting out cabinets and folding laundry fantastic we need to sort the DVD’s will do that with him this week I think xx
Oh dear, poor Baba. It’s great that he’s up and raring to go, but it must be frustrating that he still needs to be careful instead of carefree. I don’t really have any suggestions to preoccupy you. Children such as Baba love to be active, don’t they? Do you have any farms or zoos nearby?
Not overly near by but that is a good suggestion luckily Nanny and Grandad came to the rescue today, and he went bike riding with Grandad so was much happier this afternoon and Nanny let him do the washing outside. Tomorrow they are coming round again as now have to go to the vets! xx
