A Sick Boo

It started on Monday he seemed a little hot, and his face was really flush. To be honest at first I thought that it was teeth, so I gave him some calpol and hoped that would knock it on its head.

Yesterday he woke very upset, which is so unlike Boo. He generally wakes up happy and stays that way for the rest of the day.

We woke up late so we didn’t have a big breakfast and he ate both of his yoghurts and just seemed very tired.

As the day went on, he stopped eating, only wanting his milk throughout the day.

He was only happy in my arms, and all he wanted to do was sleep.

In total he slept for five hours, waking for some milk only. He wasn’t right and his temperature kept raising.

So at 5pm we rang the doctors for the emergency sit and wait service.

We got in and were seen really quickly after the doctor checked him over, he decided that Boo had a throat infection but thought that a few days of calpol and nurofen would get rid of it. He said he was fine not eating as long as he drinks and wants his milk as well. That was ok for a couple of days, but if he was still ill on Friday or if his temperature still hadn’t gone, as at the time it was 39.5, we have to go back on Friday.

Last night he was boiling, and both Mr L and I really didn’t think that we would be at home all night, we thought we were heading for a night in the hospital. Especially as his temperature was so high and with all of our family history we were on high alert for a convulsion. We kept on top of his medicine and after a massive bout of being sick his temperature seemed to start to go down, and once he was asleep he slept for the night. Waking when Mr L left for work but literally just moving into our bed before falling asleep again until we had to get up for school.

Today he doesn’t seem so hot, he still has a temperature but it was nowhere near 39.5 and we have managed to eat a couple of chocolate buttons without shaking his head and poking his tongue out. Compared to yesterday this is a massive improvement.

I am still not able to put him down and he is currently asleep on my lap while I am typing this but in-between the sleeps he seems a little happier.

I am hoping that he will be better before the weekend and that he doesn’t have to go back to the doctors on Friday.
