A Review of Winter Wonderland and Zippos Circus #ad #review

Last weekend we were lucky enough to be gifted tickets to Winter Wonderland and got to see some of the attractions there including the Big Wheel, The Magical Ice Kingdom presents The Christmas Carol and Zippos Circus.

We have never been to Winter Wonderland before, it has always been a place we have wanted to take the children, but something we have never managed to do.

Mr L and I were super excited about going, and actually managed to keep the whole day a secret from the boys, and even when we were walking into Hyde Park the boys still didn’t know where we were going. Which made it even more exciting.

And we weren’t disappointed.

The first thing we did was get onto the big wheel, which Mr L wasn’t happy about as he isn’t a fan of heights.

But actually it was a fab thing to do at the beginning of the day as we got to see the whole park from the top of the wheel and meant we could work out the layout a little bit and by the end of the day the wheels queue was busy.

We did the whole loop of the wheel and were expecting to get off but actually we went around another three times before we got off. Making it a nice experience for the boys and we managed to look at the park, and if it hadn’t have been so foggy we would have had a great view of London as well. But as we all know you can never predict our English weather.

After the wheel we spent a bit of time on some of the rides as we had complimentary tickets and my boys love a go on the dodgems and we went into some of the fun houses before heading to Zippos show.

Zippos Circus is on at 1pm, 2.30pm and 4pm for 50mins at Winter Wonderland and is in a lovely heated Megadome which is great if it is cold outside.

The circus was just as amazing as the one we saw earlier in the year, but completely different which was also great as it wasn’t long ago that we actually went.

In just 50mins you get to see some amazing acts including Khametov’s High Wire troupe from Uzbeckstan, who walk across what seems to be the smallest high wire and who perform the ultimate high wire thrill when an artist stands ‘on ballet points’ on her fellow artist’s head to cross the wire. It was utterly amazing and made us all hold our breath!

As well as this troupe there are jugglers, upside down aerial walker, double trapeze artists and a unicycle act.

The show is fun, and great for the kids and just has the feeling of Christmas throughout the whole show.

It is a great family show and one that we all enjoyed from beginning to end.

And it finished with Santa and Polar Bears! What more could you want from a circus!

The tickets to Zippos Christmas Circus are priced from £7.50 for a child (2-12 years), £10.50 adult, and £30 for a Family Ticket (2 adults/teens and 2 children or 1 adult, 3 children). Under 2’s go free when not occupying a seat. These prices exclude transaction fees. Zippos do recommend that you pre-book as the attractions can get filled up especially at the weekends and in the holidays.

After we warmed up and watched Zippos we were eager to get out and see what else Winter Wonderland had to offer and headed straight to The Magical Ice Kingdom, presenting The Christmas Carol.

This was amazing and the ice sculptures were amazing I don’t think any of us have seen anything like them before.

But by the time you get half way round it is utterly freezing in there and we made the big mistake of not taking any gloves or hats and I have to say by the time I got out of here my hands were hurting with the coldness.

It is spectacular the work that has gone into the ice sculptures is amazing, but if you decide to go then please please take gloves. As my hands really suffered and took a while to recover.

After the Ice Kingdom we spent the rest of our day having a nose around the Winter Wonderland, and went on some of the rides, had a go at some of the stalls and had some food.

We found the craft market and had a little look at all the stalls there.

We arrived at just gone 11am and left at just gone 6pm and still hadn’t seen everything there.

We had a fantastic day and it is somewhere we would go back again. Our top tips for the day would be to download the app, the Winter Wonderland app is fab as you can pre-book the attractions and you can pre-book tokens for the rides. It also has a map of the whole Wonderland so you can always work out where you are and is something we used a few times on our day.

I would definitely take gloves and hats if your planning on doing the Magical Ice Kingdom, we didn’t go near the ice skating my kids are not ones that love to skate so I am not sure how cold it is there but I would say it would be advisable to have gloves for there too.

It is a place you can just walk into, but it is also a place that has amazing attractions, that with some planning can make a couple of hours trip into a whole day trip. Which makes it a great memorable day out.

It was a day that will definitely be remembered by the boys for a long time, and one I am really pleased we managed to do with the boys. I am also pleased we waited until Boo was nearly six as he managed all the walking and all the activities and I do think any younger we would have needed a buggy at some point in the day!

You can plan and pre-book you day from the Winter Wonderland app. Zippos Christmas Circus at Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland runs until 5th January 2020. Tickets should be pre-booked to avoid disappointment
