A Papercutting Journey
I love paper, as I think we all know and I love any craft with paper to be honest.
I am addicted to Scrapbooking, and have developed a love for Book Folding / Book Art but have always had a yearning to have a go at paper-cutting.
It is like I have always been drawn to it.
I have looked and admired it for a long time. But this week decided to finally take the plunge and have a go at it myself.
I got a free template from PrettyLittlePDesigns via Facebook, you can see their full website here, that can be used for personal use, and when Boo went down for his afternoon nap I printed the template off at home and sat in the craft room having an attempt at my first papercut.

I thought that the papercut would be really hard to do and was worried about the curved lines, but I found that it wasn’t as bad as I first thought and I actually really enjoyed sitting there doing it.
I had a good two-hour session on the cutting in the afternoon, and then in the evening I started again and within another hour I had completed the whole cut.

I found some lovely dark blue card and knew that this was the perfect backing paper for the cut.
And then I found a lovely new white photo frame that set of the cut beautifully.

By the end of the evening the cut was up and hanging on our wall in our lounge.
It is by no means perfect, and there are still things that I need to learn and I need to practise. But for a first attempt I am so pleased with the finished piece. It is something I have always wanted to do and I am so pleased that I went for it.
Firstly because I love it.
Secondly because I enjoy it.
Thirdly because I think it will compliment the albums, scrapbooks and keepsakes that I already make, and will open up a new range for Scrapbookerry, in the future.
But this piece will remain hanging on our wall as a reminder of the very first papercut that I did!
A papercut to always remember.
