A Papercutting Journey Part 2

Following on from my first attempt at Papercutting I have been continuing to learn and work with this new skill.

I love doing it, but it is not an easy thing. It takes a lot of time, it is very fiddly, and things do go wrong, but none of that has put me off, and really was what I expected. But I am determined to keep practising as I think papercuts firstly are beautiful in their own right, but secondly will make a lovely addition to any of our albums or keepsakes. It is an idea I have had for a while and one that I am working hard on making a  reality.

I love a challenge and I really challenged myself with my second papercut.

It was very different to my first one, it involved a lot of free hand cutting, I no longer had the security of my ruler for straight lines. It also involved writing and was one a much smaller scale.

I wont lie it was a tough papercut, and I did make mistakes, a few leaves didn’t stay because I was a bit too heavy-handed, but every mistake is a learning curve and the only way to get better is too make mistakes.

But in the end I was really pleased with how it turned out.

I stuck the papercut onto a nice slightly patterned paper and then backed this with black card, and placed some brown string onto the back to be able to hang the papercut with.

It now is perfectly placed in our lounge and is another papercut that I am very pleased with.
