Wedding Wednesday – What The Groom Wore

When we got married Mr L really let me have everything that I wanted at the wedding.

He really wasn’t bothered what the decorations, or colour scheme was, or any of the other little bits and bobs.

But he was really particular about what he wore.

Mr L is a builder, he is not a suit and boot man. He never has been. If he needs to dress up smart he will go to a shirt and a tie and that is it.

He wanted to be comfortable at his wedding, it was after all as much as his day as it was mine, and he really didn’t want to have to wear a suit and be uncomfortable for the whole of his wedding day.

So we decided that Mr L and all of his groomsmen would just be in shirts and ties, but Mr L wanted a little more than that. He wanted each of the groomsmen to have coloured converse style shoes with matching coloured ties and the groomsmen to be in white shirts and he would wear a black shirt with a white tie. To be a little different to the rest of the groomsmen.

We had two boys as part of the groomsmen, BB and our nephew and they both had green shoes and green ties, then the other groomsmen decided on the other colours that they wanted and we went and brought the shoes and the matching ties to go with their white shirts.

Mr L had a brown pair of boots and his black shirt and white tie.

It was a decision that was met with a fair few strange looks, it was going against tradition and lots of people raised their eyebrows about it.

But it was something that really suited Mr L and all of the groomsmen, including the boys looked fab on the wedding day.

I loved the way they all looked together and the fact that it meant that Mr L was much more comfortable than he would have been in a suit, jacket and tie, made the whole look perfect for him and perfect for our wedding.
