The Gone Series by Michael Grant

For the last month I have been reading these six books from The Gone series, by Michael Grant.
I actually brought this series ages ago, and had read the first book – Gone ages ago, but on Christmas Eve I decided to pick it back up and reread it and got really into it this time and before I knew it I had read all six books in a month.
These books reminded me a little of the series The Dome, again I have only watched a couple but the idea that there was a big dome or the FAYZ as it is called in the books cutting off people or children, actually anyone under 15 made me connect the two.
That is all the similarity I can see as I have only watched a couple of the episodes. But I really liked this series and really couldn’t put the last few books down.
Basically in a nutshell one day everyone over the age of fifteen disappear.
And the kids left behind have to look after themselves without knowing if their parents and older siblings, grandparents and uncle and aunts are dead or alive.
But to add to the confusion some of the children have developed special powers, are mutants, freaks, or moofs.
It is six books about how these kids survive, how the cope with no adults, how they deal with some having super powers and how underneath it all some people are good and some are just plain bad!
I loved the fact that new characters came into the books but actually the core group of children remained the same, and by the end of the sixth book you had real emotion if any of them were harmed as you had followed their stories from the start.
It really is a series of books that I would recommend. They are easy to read, but full of description and they really feel like you are in the movies watching them!
They are a great fantasy collection, and ones that I have recommended to Mr L and I would definitely give to BB in the future to read.
The Gone Series is a story that I won’t forget for a long time.
