Teething And Toileting!
Baba has been fast at teething, he always has had two teeth come at the same time, and now he only has his last molars to come through. But the poor mite is going through it with these.
He has broke two of these molars this weekend and I feel so sorry for him. He has come out in a stinking cold, and has really been suffering with his breathing and his croup.
Saturday and Sunday he asked for his inhaler and has done again today. He is so bunged up that sleeping is a problem I think. He is sleeping lots but I am not sure how deep a sleep he is actually having as he is coughing repeatedly throughout his sleep, and as soon as he wakes he is saying he is tired again. His temperature has not been too bad though which is always a good sign for Baba. But even so we have had a very quiet weekend, just staying in and trying to get rid of this cold and let him get over all the teething as quick as possible.
However this has lead to an interesting thing that has also been happening this weekend. Baba has been getting better and better with his toilet training, we haven’t pushed him. He has just naturally started this on his own. Which is pretty amazing.
He had already been saying that he needed a wee, but would only do one wee on the potty and then would just wee anywhere in the house. However this weekend he has been using the potty regularly in the day, and also following us to the toilet and saying he needs a wee when we go. Every time he has had a wee.
A new thing is that he has been taking his nappy off when he has had a wee and when he has had a poo. He has also had a couple of poos on the potty. It seems that something has clicked. We are just going with the flow at the moment as he is not 100% so I nor Mr L want to push him and go ten steps backwards. But at the same time we are a little impressed with how he has taken to this. We have always let him take the lead with his development stages and I see no reason why we should change just for toilet training, so we are going to keep going with what we are doing and see how he gets on. I shall keep everyone posted!
That’s absolutely the way to do it! Well done baba! Once it ‘clicks’ they are away! Makes you so proud, doesn’t it? They are so amazing. Surprises me everyday!
So sorry he is so poorly though 🙁 Bless him. That’s rough. My DD is full of cough & cold too, and actually now, after reading this, I’m wondering if its connected with her molars. She’s had cold after cold recently, and is dribbling like mad!

I remember toilet training just “clicked” for us too, with both boys. Congrats on your progress. Never has the phrase, “go with the flow” been so appropriate! 😉
