Sketching
When I was younger I used to always draw.
I had loads of sketch books and used to draw anything and everything from cartoon characters to people to landscapes.
I used to love drawing and I did art at school and then I just kind of stopped.
I started scrapbooking, knitting and sewing and drawing took a bit of a back seat.
Yesterday when we were shopping I had a real urge to draw.
So I found a sketch book and some pencils and a rubber and paintbrushes! And brought them all.

I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do with any of it.
But I knew I wanted to draw.
I have never been a person that draws and colours it in, I have always been a person that draws and shades in the picture with the pencils.
But I used to really enjoy it.
Last night I decided when the boys were in bed that I was going to draw something and it seemed the most appropriate thing was to draw some lilies.
I did a lot of sketching and rubbing out and changing lines. But in the end I was pretty pleased with what I achieved.

It is far from perfect.
Is art ever perfect?
But I am really pleased with it.
I haven’t really drawn since I was at school so for a good 20 years and for my first attempt I am really happy with it.
And I really enjoyed it.
For the time I was drawing I wasn’t thinking and at the moment, at this time of year anything that helps me to do that is a good thing.
