Poppy Cat A Review

Poppy Cat is a new Nick Jr show that aired for the first time on Monday 2nd of May at 10am and is on every week day with two back to back episodes.

Poppy Cat is based on the books by Lara Jones that have sold over 2.5 Million copies worldwide. It is aimed at preschoolers and all the shows start with a little girl Lara inventing stories for her cat Poppy. These stories then take the viewer on adventures with Poppy Cat and her friends with a flick of her bandana vehicles including aeroplanes, hot air balloons and submarines appear ready to take them to magical destinations. It really lets the viewers imagination go wild.

Poppy Cat is about making adventures extraordinary, but it also focuses on the fun and power of inventing and sharing stories. It encourages the use of your imagination and shows preschoolers how to use their imagination to solve problems and pursue their dreams and goals. But it also focuses on friendship, and social and emotional ideas as well which are all important to a preschooler.

We only watched the first programme for a couple of minutes before Baba shouted at me that he liked it! After we watched the same two episodes 6 times in a row I believed that he liked it, I have to be honest I liked it too. Poppy Cat is narrated by Joanne Page, from Gavin and Stacey, and as an adult you can actually listen and watch the show happily as they are always off on some sort of adventure.

It has become a firm favourite in our house and is rapidly filling up the memory on our home TV as it is being recorded every day. It is a show that I would recommend to people as it is easy to watch and really does make your imagination flow. If you want to have a little preview yourself then please click here.
