Our Garden, Our Harvest

This year we decided to grow our own.

It wasn’t something that we have ever done before but we thought that we would give it a try, Mr L built our vegetable patch and we got planting.

We really didn’t know what we were doing, and blindly just went ahead at having a go.

So when we got our first harvest we were shocked! And were really impressed to be honest, as we really thought there would be nothing that would grow.

Baba loved picking all of his vegetables out of his patch and we even got a few tomatoes and strawberries this year, even with us thinking that we had killed them all.

We were impressed that we made the small leap into planting our own food! But it really was a tiny leap and something that we really want to develop over the years!

So I have been and brought a few books on gardening and growing your own and next year we are going to be organised! We are going to have everything in place and actually know what to do with it all as this year was a real hit and miss about what we were doing. Next year we want to know when we have to plant, when we have to harvest and what to do in between.

I think it is a skill that Baba should learn, he loves doing it and I think it is really helpful for him in the future, we don’t have a big space but we have enough to do something with. So we are going to make the most out of it!

Do you grow your own? Do you have any tips for us in the future?
