Our Dream, Our Goal
We have a dream in our house, it has been a joint dream of ours for a long time. But since we got Buddy it has become more of a need rather than a dream.
When we just had Tito, it was easy to ask people to look after him if we went on long days out or went away. People would happily move in for the weekend while we went away, as we haven’t ever been away longer than a weekend while he has lived here. But that isn’t a possibility with Buddy.
Buddy is quite complex. He has separation anxiety needs. He can’t be left for too long, he barks, he howls and he cries. Even with Tito he doesn’t like to be left. He isn’t a dog that settles.
He gets over gates, he tries to steal food, he will run away and he is strong.
He isn’t a dog that we would be happy leaving with a member of our family. A day is ok, but longer than that and we would be worried.
So we have a couple of options, if we ever want to have another holiday in the next 10+ years, to start camping! Which I am not prepared to do. The whole idea fills me with dread, sleeping in a tent, having nowhere to escape and hide away and having two dogs in a tent. One I think they will make too much noise, and two I think one or the other will either rip the tent or dig their way out. Lets be honest, they are beagles they are not normal dogs!
Although Baba and Mr L would love to do this, I just can’t bring myself to agree and I don’t think I would ever enjoy it. It all sounds like far too much stress and then I would be grumpy and it wouldn’t be fun it would be hell.
So our other options are to get a caravan or a motor home.
Neither is cheap.
But it is the options that we are looking at.
I would love either to be honest, and which ever we can afford we would go with. We both want the freedom to get up and go, have somewhere to stay over night and a place for all of us and the dogs.
We both want a project. Mr L wants to potter on it and I want to paint it and make it our little sanctuary.
If we get a motor home, we want the freedom to go off to the beach for the whole day and know that we can chill in our own space, get the dogs our of the heat and let Baba have a little rest while we eat and chill and have a fantastic day out making great memories.
It is a dream that will be just a dream for a while, but it is our dream and it is one that we are both focused on and can not wait for it to become true!
