Night Time Board Games

This evening, just before bed Baba asked for someone to play with him, so I suggested that we got out a board game and had a little game before bedtime.

It is something that we have never done before, and I have to admit it was a light bulb moment, where I suddenly thought this is a great idea why have we not done this before.

Baba has lots of “board” type games, games that need to be played with another person, including Snail Race, Pop up Pirate, Chipper, Red Rover, Scooby Doo Frustration, Snakes and Ladders, Play Doh Smasher board game and a couple of dinosaur games. We do play them but not overly as he usually asks in the middle of the day when it is really busy and no one has that long period of time to sit down and play with him.

So while we were sitting and playing Frustration this evening, I thought what a good idea it would be to sit down and have a little board game with him before his bedtime routine, a time to chill out and play with him one to one with either myself or his Daddy.

So this is what we are going to do, it is going to be our little time to chill relax and wind down and to get ready for the last bit of the day. Do any of you do this with your children? Are there any other fantastic board games out there that you can recommend to a four-year old?

  • Depending on his counting skills you could try Uno. Card based rather than board based but sounds like you are looking generally for games you could play as a family. I also love hungry hippos. And how about drafts/checkers

    • He is just starting to learn counting so we were thinking about Uno actually and do have a variation of it for some of his Christmas present. Not sure he would get checkers yet, but something that we could certainly look into thanks xx

We love comments so please leave some
