Lumilove Penguin Review
A while ago we were sent a Lumilove Penguin light to review, as soon as we got it out of the box, it was an instant hit with Baba. It has been a firm favourite with him ever since, and is regularly on the chair bed next to his bed as he goes to sleep.
The light on the penguin is subtle and not to bright, but bright enough to give a nice light to the room. The website states that the Lumilove doesn’t heat up, even under the sheets, and we have to say that this 100% correct. The light never gets hot, and we have it on over the whole night, sometimes 12+ hours and it never heats up. So it is a great constant light for Baba over night. It lasts for ages as well, as I say we have it on roughly 12 hours a night and it doesn’t dim at all. The site states that it has 11 hours operation, but it can actually go a little longer and is perfect for a child sleeping.
The charging of the penguin is so easy, as it comes with its own base, and you basically sit it on the base and it starts charging. This means once we get up in the morning, the penguin is moved from the bed to the charger and has a red / green light to let you know it is charging. It really is that simple. As soon as you take the penguin of the charger it lights up immediately, but it also has a button on the base so you can turn the light off if you wish.
To be honest the penguin is rather cute as well! Baba uses the penguin in the day to play as well as at night-time, so it is a versatile toy as well.
Since we were given this Lumilove Penguin to review, there is now a penguin that also plays a gentle melody for 15 minutes when turned on, this is a fantastic addition as far as I can see and will make this product even better than it was before hand.
This light is available from Amazon for £40 so yes it is not that cheap, but it is an investment toy rather than one that will just be used for a little while, it is appropriate from birth and considering Baba is three and still loves his light then you get a lot of use out of it. It is something we would recommend to all our friends.
